New Beginnings

Brrr!
I had to take a few breaks to try to warm up
My skis were waiting for me when I came back though
Brr! A self portrait ;)
I had to enjoy a beer after the first day of skiing, even if it was freezing

I kind of want to start a new blog but don't know if I have the energy right now. I know it's been forever since I've posted and I know you all know why. I want this blog to continue to be what it was before, communication to my friends and family through photos of what I've been up to. So here's a new start to that. I went skiing a week ago by myself. Never been skiing by myself. It wasn't bad, just different. I probably would have even had fun if it wasn't -10 degree windchill. I'll let you know in the future because I plan to do more when it's a little warmer and there is more snow. I did have the foresight to bring the camera so I have photos of my first (frigid) ski trip this year. Enjoy!!!

Today

These are some photos I took this morning when I woke up. It's a beautiful day!

I don't have much new for you guys. I was supposed to work yesterday but was put on call so I had a lazy day. I pretty much sat around and watched football all day. It was a nice day. I was supposed to meet some friends out in Evergreen last night but we got about 3-4 inches of snow during the day. Jeremy worked and had the Xterra. I was cozy and didn't feel like going outside to play with the Jeep. Jeremy and I both have today off so we'll see what the day brings.

Catching Up

On our beautiful bike ride late Monday afternoon

This photo was taken Wednesday after it snowed all night Tuesday night
My new 'do'

It was absolutely beautiful Monday so Jeremy and I went for a bike ride on a bike path between here and Denver. Then Tuesday night, it snowed. I worked my first day shift Tuesday. It was busy but it went okay. Then I worked a night shift the next day (last night) and I am reminded today of why I went to days! I'm beat. I got my hair cut and we are going to see a movie tonight. Then, I am going to crash.

Spa day

My pretty toenails (an my crazy toes)
Downtown Denver. It has been a beautiful weekend!

Saturday Jeremy and I met Tanaia to have a spa day. We started out with a massage and I can honesty tell you I will never do that again. I am so sore today. My shoulder and neck feel like I did 30 minutes of weight training instead of having a relaxing massage. My therapist told me I needed to do it more often because my neck and back are extremely tight but I am not sure that I'm sold considering how I feel today. After the massage, Tanaia and I got pedicures. My feet felt so good...then I put heels on and went out and gave myself blisters...oh well! My toes still look great! We met up with some of Jeremy's coworkers for a birthday party and had a little too much fun. Today, Jeremy and Tanaia and some other people from work went to kayak a river and I was feeling like I was hit by a truck so I stayed home and watched football and got some relaxation. I feel a little better. Hoping I feel much better by Tuesday for my first day shift. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Our Anniversary

The staff made a card out for us

I worked the night before and the night of our anniversary so we went out on Friday. We ate at The Melting Pot. When we got there, I had a dozen roses waiting on the table. It was a nice night even though I was tired from my many nights of work. Here are a few photos of the roses that I took today.

4 Years!

October 15, 2005
Moving into our new house, July 2007
This is one of my very favorite photos of us. Salt Lake City.

S'mores are good. On vacation in Wyoming
Halloween in high school

It is our four year anniversary and I can't believe it has been that long! So much has happened in the last four years! New husband, new sister-in-law, new nephew, new job, new house...whew!! I wouldn't change a moment of it and I hope the next four years bring just as much craziness and just as many memories!!!

Friday Night

This last Friday night we went out in Denver with Tanaia and Jordan and his friends. We ended up staying at Tanaia's after going out because it snowed (and we maybe were not in the right mind to drive). I bought this Make-your-own candy necklace kit in Moab and forgot it was in my purse. We found it at a bar and decided to make candy necklaces. See, you can be creative anywhere!!

Jeremy and Jordan. We played pass the hats for awhile.
Tanaia and me (and my candy necklace)
Melody, Tanaia and me. Cheers!
This is the canyon on our drive home the next morning

Sorry I haven't updated in a little while. It has been a very crazy 2 weeks. If I'm not working, I'm sleeping or trying to recover. Or, just to torture myself, I'm spending all night in Denver partying the night before I have to go to work. Saturday night was a rough night back but I survived. Cardiac ICU had their charge RN call in and they thought their best choice for charge last night was me...luckily it was a smooth sailing night! Tonight I'm house manager so I'm not just in charge of one unit, I'm in charge of the whole hospital! Mondays are notoriously busy too. Hopefully it will go smoothly! T minus 4 night shifts and counting!! Days next week! I'll let you all know how it goes. Hope everyone has a great week!

Today

Hi all! Sorry I've not been updating lately. I've been working a lot of overtime. I am on my 2nd day off of only two days off after working five and tomorrow I go back to work six nights. Then, I'm officially a day shifter. We got about an inch or two of snow yesterday. I did not get any photos of the snow but I took a photo of the fire Jeremy built. It was our first fire this season. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Incognito

Okay, I had to get these photos from my friend before I could post them. I can say that I don't remember laughing harder than I did this morning. Tanaia (the other girl in the photo) went to town with Greg, Pauilie's uncle, to pick up the rafts. At the gas station she found these fake mustaches. They lost their sticky very easily but it was still hilarious. I was still a little tipsy. This was the morning after I had stayed up talking around the campfire until 7am. Then I hopped in the tent to sleep for two hours before a full day rafting on the river. Here's one of the funniest things that happened all weekend.

Hahaha!!! I hope everyone gets as much of a laugh as I did. I am still laughing out loud every time I see these! Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend everyone. Today is Sunday for me, back to work tomorrow, only two more weeks of nights!

Today

I don't have many new photos since we got back from Moab so I am posting some photos of when we closed on our house (the first time).
On the drive to Colorado
Jeremy and I at lunch right after closing.
Drinking champagne in the hotel room
Waking up early in the first night in our house. We were awake by 4am. We slept on the air mattress in our empty bedroom. We forgot many essentials, we had no can opener for dinner, no bottle opener for wine and thank goodness we thought to steal towels from the hotel room for showers.
Our house

So I have few updates for all of you. Sorry I haven't posted in awhile it's been a busy week. I found out that I did not get the job that I interviewed for. I was upset for a very short time. The same night I found out I did a fill in shift and it was busy and stressful and I think that it was a sign that maybe that job is not the best fit for me. I left that next morning saying "did I really want to do that full time?" The other benefit of not getting this job: I'm joining the land of the living...I'm going to day shift, kids!!! Only two more weeks of night shift!! We also closed yesterday on our house...again. Lower interest rate, lower monthly payments and I don't have a mortgage payment for two months!! Yay! So here are some photos of the first time we closed on our house (this time wasn't as exciting so we didn't take any photos).

Moab

Meeting in Frisco
The aspens are changing and it's starting to snow. Here's hoping for an early start of the ski season. The craziest thing is we were heading to the desert in Utah. We drove through snow to stay in 90 degree weather.
Girls win. The boys don't even have the poles in yet!
Garrett helped organize this whole thing with his girlfriend Paulie. He's on his son's dirt bike, with his Scottish hat.
Now Matt has the hat on the big bike. That's crazy Rico, Garrett's dog.
Got the kayaks out. The campsite was almost right on the river. Awesome!! Lots of people took a turn in the kayak.
I love this photo. This is the view from our site. The colors are great!! Wow!!
Andy and Matt. That water is unbelievably cold. Louis is the golden that can swim all day and night.
Here's the group starting out on our rafting trip.
This is our group during our lunch break.
I was ambushed by Jeremy and Matt. Jerks!...
COLD!!
Melody, me and Sarah W. Such a beautiful day!
Paulie was bossman on our raft.
The end of the trip. It was awesome to float right back to our campsite. Great times!!!!

Thursday through Sunday this last week we went to Moab, Utah. We had such a blast. Jeremy and I worked Wednesday night so the trip was a little tough. We had to head home from work, pack then meet with some people to caravan with in Frisco. It was cold at our house and snowing when we drove over Hoosier and Vail passes. It was a way longer trip than it should have been. It's hard to caravan with 5 cars and 10 people. Every stop takes much longer and we were tired. We finally made it to our campsite and got set up. Then we played around in the river (which was right next to the site) before starting a fire, drinking too much and going to bed. The next day was fun too. Many people went to Slickrock to go mountain biking. Me and a few of the other girls went to town to rent the rafts, get some groceries and do some shopping. Then we relaxed and enjoyed the day. That night went similar to the first night but it got a little loud and we got a little in trouble but not too bad. I was one of those people that stayed up way too late (like 7am) and I'm sure I contributed to the loud (but no where near as bad as a couple someones that won't be named). Hey, did any of you know that the Texans are in the same division as the Colts, Jaguars and Titans...ouch! I only got 2 hours of sleep before starting the next day. The next day we went on a raft trip. It's kind of funny to watch 20 people try to get moving to do anything. Had the best time on the river. I was a little upset at how my photos from that day turned out. Apparently my shutter speed was inadvertently changed and all my photos turned out dark. Bummer! So we were so tired after this trip but Paulie offered to drive us to a place that charged $5 for unlimited shower time. I couldn't pass it up after two nights in the desert and a full day on the river. Then we had a very chill night and went to bed early. Today we picked up and drove home leisurely, stopping to have dinner in Frisco. It was such a fun time. We discussed making this an annual trip and I really hope we do!!!
