Avs Game

Some friends from work and I organized an outing to an Avalanche hockey game last Saturday. We had a blast (I work with some crazy people). The Avs started out really strong, dominating possession for most of the first half of the game and were up 2-0 at one point. Then they got lame and the Canucks came back and tied it 2-2 then ended up winning in overtime. We still had a great time!

Russ and I. In the row behind us is Rheu, Carmen and her husband.
Oh Chris. One of my favorite people. He tripped up the stairs carrying his loaded nachos and got sour cream all over his face. Classic!!!
In the front row is Chris, Kim, Mike, Russ and I. Rheu and Carmen in the back row.
Back row Stacey and Russ, front row, me, Chris, Kim and Mike.
We all had a great time! Nurses are some fun but crazy folks!

FOOD!

Hello all!! I am alive! :) I know it has been forever since I have posted and I thought about trying to go back and post in chronological order and update you on skiing and my holidays home but I decided to post my most recent photos instead. This last week has been all about food! Great food! It is restaurant week in Denver (which is actually 3 weeks but...). During restaurant week, nice (and not so nice) restaurants have a deal where you get a full meal for 2 for 52.80 or 26.40 for 1.

My first set of photos are actually of Eric cooking for us. He made sweet and spicy pork chops, curried rice and this onion salsa that has habanero pepper in it and I love it!! I could eat a whole onion that way!

The next night the three of us ate at Rioja which is the "best restaurant in Denver" according to some. All of their reservations were booked 2 weeks before restaurant week even started. We lucked out and were able to get one for 9:15 on a Monday night. Russ is so awesome! I never would have thought to call assuming they would still be booked. Glorious meal!!!

Then last night we ate at Fogo de Chao which is a Brazilian restaurant with an amazing salad bar (there is a photo of it if you click on the link). The meat is brought around to the table and it is all you can eat beef, chicken, pork, and lamb prepared different ways. We were so full and it was so good! Enjoy my photos! I will try to update this a little more often! Check out my photos on my facebook page for holiday photos (I'm adding more today) and skiing.

Eric was cutting up the habanero pepper for my salsa and did not want to waste gloves but he put the one glove on the wrong hand so he ended up cutting it with two knives. It was pretty funny to watch.
Russ squeezing the lime. According to Eric, that is his job. He always squeezes the lime.
Yummy meal Eric!

Our very tasty cheese plate appetizer
Russ's lamb
My duck was on top of a butternut squash risotto and that with the glaze from the duck was just the most wonderful taste combination. I never would have ordered this but the waiter suggested it as his favorite and I tipped him generously.
Dessert was included in the meal as well. Yum!

The waiter brought around bacon wrapped chicken and filet mignon. Eric was joking with him so that is why we are all laughing.
Yummy!
They are always in a hurry when they are serving the meats but they were good sports about getting their photo taken
This is what Eric refers to as "the graveyard." You get to the point where you want to taste everything but you can not possibly fit anymore food in your tummy. So good though!

New Toy!!

I bought a new TV for a great deal at Best Buy. It came as part of a package with a new 3D Bluray player and surround sound speakers. The TV is freaking sweet too!!! It is super thin and virtually borderless. It is difficult to really grasp its awesomeness in the photos but I tried.

New toy!!
Yay!!!

Finally on the wall!!

First Ski Day of the Season!!!!!!

I am a little out of order but I am pretty excited about what I did today! My friends Kim and Leslie and I went up to A Basin to ski for the first time this season! This is the first time I have ever skied in October! Now I can say I did it and will most likely never do it again. The mountain was packed and there were only 2 runs open so we waited in the lift line for 30 min for each 5 min run. We only ran a couple runs because it just was not worth the wait. However, we had a great time and it felt great to get back on my skis. I am hoping that once Breckenridge and Keystone open up on November 11th the crowd will disperse a little. All things considered, today was a good day. Hoping for a good night and a Cardinal's win! Happy Thursday everyone!

Family in Denver

Katie and Jeremy came to visit right after I moved and Mom and Dad shortly after. We did a lot and had a great time! I love when my family can come out here and be a part of what I love about Denver! You are all always welcome!!!

Katie and Jeremy with our eccentric beer man at the Rockies game
Kate and I at the Rockies game. Katie and Jeremy drove through the night and arrived in Denver about an hour before the game started. It was a very long day for them!
My amazingly wonderful tuna roll at the Yardhouse.
Our yummy spread. Russ took this photo. I just noticed there are no photos of him!
Kate and Jeremy with their 'yards'
The three of us went to the rodeo in Cheyenne. It was my first rodeo! ;)
Mom and Dad arrived and on Dad's birthday we went to the Denver Botanical Gardens.
I took this photo at the Monet pool.
It was a very hot day but we enjoyed the gardens
That night all of us including Eric and Russ had dinner at Buckhorn Exchange, which is the oldest restaurant in Denver, for Dad's birthday. I wish I would have taken more photos!! The restaurant is covered wall to wall with animals and old photos and newspaper articles and serves a lot of game dishes that are not common in other restaurants. It was also featured on Man v. Food when they came to Denver.
Mom and Dad wanted to see the rodeo as well so we went back to Cheyenne and this time it was not my first rodeo ;)
We also got to see Train and Maroon 5 at Red Rocks.
It was a beautiful night and we had a great time! Thanks so much for coming!!

Moving

On July 20th I moved out of the house I was living in and into an apartment. I swear it was the hottest day of the year and I am on the 3rd floor in my new building! It was a very long 2 days of packing, carrying heavy boxes, climbing stairs and sweating. A giant thank you to Russ and Eric for all of your help! I could not have done it without you!

Minnie was a big help
Eric guiding Russ up to the front door.
This bottle of bourbon belonged to Grandpa Lewis. I have been carting it around with me everywhere I have lived since I left their old house. I put it in a box and the lid popped off and it started pouring out.
She insisted we drink her and we were forced to oblige.
It was a very long couple days!!

Bestie Camping Trip!!!

Hi all!! So sorry it has been this long! My busy month became a very busy several months and all of a sudden it is October! How the heck did that happen!!!!! I have many photos to share and finally a little time to share them! I better get on it before ski season starts! ;) These are photos from the camping trip Russ, Eric and I took to South Dakota in July. This is a very small snapshot. Between the three of us we took almost 700 photos!! I posted many more on Facebook. I hope everyone had a wonderful summer! It has been a very mild fall in Denver up until today. We had our first snowfall of the season today. Wolf Creek, a southern CO ski area, actually opened this week!! Fall is definitely upon us and winter fast approaching. Enjoy the photos and I hope to have more for you soon!!

My little campfire meatloaves. Just hollow out a large onion, stuff with your favorite meatloaf recipe, wrap in foil and throw into your campfire. (If any of you are familiar with South Park, these guys were cracking me up because they look like Terrance and Philip. Not many people got my reference though).
On the road with Eric and Russ (my besties). Russ and I left straight from work so we had a very long day.
We made a McDonald's stop in Cheyenne. While we were in line Eric leaned over and whispered "Have you noticed how there is only white people in here?" We had all had a very long laugh. Russ and I assured him that if anyone gave him trouble we would claim he was our hired Mexican chef for the trip.
All set up on our campsite at Custer's Gulch Campsite in Custer, SD
Cheers
The meatloaves were a hit
The first night after setting up camp. Russ and I were well over 24 hours without sleep but the 3 of us had a great dinner and a lot of laughs
Day 2: Taking in the scenery
Wind Cave tour
Mt. Rushmore
We ended the day with a few beers at a very small local bar (with a sawdust floor) and left our mark on the wall
Day 3: We drove to Deadwood to hit the casinos and take in a little Wild West history
And we got some old timey photos that I just adore!!!

Day 5: Flat tire as we were packing up to drive home. Good thing I had the boys with me :)
(A little out of order) Day 4: We drove to Badlands National Park. Beautiful scenery! The boys were making fun of me for setting up the tripod but I got a lot of great photos of the three of us. There are more on Facebook!
It was a great trip with so many memories I will not soon forget!!!!!
